Activities of the Bioenterprises in the Amazon project were completed

Workshop of the ‘Bioenterprises’ Project

On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, members of the Raíz Ecuador Foundation – CAEMBA met with the rest of the teams from the ‘Boosting Bioenterprises in the Northern Amazon’ project, driven by the Small Grants Programme (SGP) with the support of the Program for Supporting the National System of Protected Areas (PASNAP), through the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Ecological Transition (MAATE), with funds from the German cooperation and KFW.

At Fundación Raíz Ecuador – CAEMBA, updates were provided to other participants regarding the specific activities and main axes to follow within the project supporting Bioenterprises with Siona and Siekopai cultural identity. The workshop also served to taste prototypes made from traditional products developed during the ‘UNICO’ scholarship with the support of the espai-epicur team.

At the workshop, traditional products from the Amazon were tasted.

Delivery of Motor and Canoe to ASOPROASIENW

On Friday, September 24, a trip was made to Siekopai territory to deliver a canoe and an outboard motor to the Siekopai Women’s Association of Wai’ya (ASOPROASIENW) as part of the project for the development of Bioenterprises with Siona and Siekopai cultural identity.

Having their own means of transportation will provide independence to the association, allowing them to move without depending on other members of the community. The delivered four-stroke motor is more efficient and environmentally friendly. The canoe was crafted by members of the A’i Cofán community of Dureno, friends of the Raíz Ecuador – CAEMBA Foundation. Its colors represent the varieties of spicy chili peppers of the Siekopai.

We thank the SGP, KFW Ecuador, PASNAP, and MAATE for promoting this initiative implemented by the Raíz Ecuador – CAEMBA Foundation.

Intervention of the Sucumbíos Autonomous Decentralized Government (GAD) in Wai’ya for the construction of a collection center.

During the last week of September, the Sucumbíos Autonomous Decentralized Government (GAD) was working on the preparation of the land where the collection and processing center of Wai’ya will be built, with a bamboo structure provided by CAEMBA.

These activities are carried out within the Bioenterprises strengthening project. The structure will have all the characteristics to meet the sanitary standards required for formal product commercialization. The Raíz Ecuador – CAEMBA Foundation will also be responsible for equipping the center.

We thank the Sucumbíos Autonomous Decentralized Government (GAD), SGP, KFW Ecuador, PASNAP, and MAATE for promoting this initiative implemented by the Raíz Ecuador – CAEMBA Foundation.
