During the month of October, CAEMBA built 11 bamboo houses for families affected by the earthquake in the rural community of La Magdalena, in the Muisne Canton. La Magdalena is a community located on the banks of the El Sucio River, a paradisiacal and fertile place situated in the buffer zone of the Mache Chindul Reserve. It is a rural community dedicated to the cultivation of cocoa, coffee, passion fruit, pepper, and livestock.
To reach La Magdalena with the materials, CAEMBA had to bring a tractor, and the community contributed with mules. It was a titanic effort to bring bamboo houses to the families affected by the recent earthquake. This was a significant endeavor, especially considering that the rainy season begins at the end of December, and under such conditions, it’s impossible to transport materials to this community.
