The Raíz Foundation, through the CAEMBA project of emergency bamboo houses, has partnered with Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito in the campaign ‘Goals in Bamboo,’ aiming to make the team an ambassador for CAEMBA. The primary objective of this campaign is for Liga to raise awareness among its fans about the reality of extreme poverty, precarious housing, and social inequality in some areas of Ecuador. It is hoped that the Liga community (team, management, and fans) will act within their spheres to change this reality. The goal is also to involve Liga’s sponsors in this crusade against precarious housing and social inequality in Ecuador.
In this context, on Saturday, March 7th, before a match where Liga played at home, a joint press conference was held between Manuel Pallares and Cristina Latorre, representatives of the Raíz Foundation, and Esteban Paz, a director of Liga. During the conference, it was announced that during home games for Liga, collections would be held where fans could voluntarily contribute with a monetary donation to support CAEMBA’s work for the most vulnerable in Ecuador. In this first match, a donation collection was carried out, with 12 volunteers collaborating for this purpose in each section of the Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadium. Additionally, fans were shown an informative video about the project and this joint campaign.
